HEAR

i hear the words
shouting across the divide
i hear the anger
i hear the mistrust
i hear the yearning
i hear the despair
i hear the lies
i hear the way we should believe
i hear truth get sidelined
i hear hope get maligned
but
do i hear repentance
do i hear forgiveness
do i hear the cry out to God for relief
do i hear the lips that honor Him
do i hear a heart that honors You
do i hear truth spoken as it should be
do i look into my own heart
to see what i need to confess to You Lord
man's heart so deceitful
man's heart so wicked without God
do i hear repentance
do i hear truth
do i hear compassion
do i hear mercy
do i hear hope
do i hear forgiveness
do i seek You Lord Jesus
or
do i seek what is best for me
do i look to my own comfort
do i look for justice
do i seek the way You have shown
Your mercy
Your love
Your hope
Your truth
Your compassion
do i hear You Lord
do i listen Lord
